We are proud to officially be underway with our initial pre-employment program in the greater Gippsland region.
About the Jobs Local program:
We are set to see amazing results through this innovative 8-week pre-employment program leading into sustainable part-time employment as trainees in aged, disability and community care in 2021 and 2022.
We have funding to recruit and train 100 local Gippsland job seekers from november 2021 to June 2022.

The program has accumulated an amazing array of partners and sponsors from JobActive providers, MAX Employment, Sureway Employment and Training and APM
The primary goal of this program is to recruit, train and support local job seekers who show an interest and desire to work in healthcare, who complete the pre-employment program into paid work with our employer partners. Once employed they will continue to study the Certificate III in Individual Support whilst gaining valuable on-the-job experience.

The key features of our program:
Collectively this initiative will create a heavily supported education and employment program, increase exposure to the healthcare sector, build skills and resilience, with access to sustainable and ongoing employment, working towards their Certificate III in Individual Support.
- Working with the local community to engage and build interest, and a clear understanding of the benefits, career outcomes, job’s ad longer term career path within the sector as a whole.
- Development of appropriate material highlighting a long-term pathway with prospective employers, and overall in the industry.
- Intensive screening and selection of trainees based on their attitude, values and attribution. This is done by using culturally appropriate training, observational and support techniques.
- Compliance of employer and industry expectations i.e attitude, ability to complete tasks, willingness work in health, ability to pass compliance checks.
- Tailored industry related training, human and softs skills training, and accredited training.
- Intensive training of cultural awareness training and employer briefing candidates based on their strengths
- Industry specific training of soft skills to assist in the transition to employment within the specific industry requirements
- Buddy/Mentor training, allowing the selection of employees who will work as mentors, understand and are guided themselves in best practise to onboard, engage and support new employees into the role/s.
- On-the-job work experience, including competency based assessment to consolidate job and employer fit
- Ongoing life skill coaching with each participant, to maximise the success of employment and training
- Ongoing support and coaching with employer partners, to manage and support the traineeship program, and its success ongoing.
Employment Opportunities through the Local Jobs Program:
Overall we are seeking the following attributes, and availability from potential program candidates:
- Those who have a desire to work with the elderly, those with a disability or those that need assistance in daily tasks.
- Have a want to learn, work and give back to your local community.
- Ability to commit to working a minimum of 15 hours per week, up to 35 hours per week, ongoing. Shifts available from Monday to Sunday from 7:00am to 10:00pm – ability to work within these days / times.
- Live in the Gippsland region, roles will be offered with your local community, within 30-minute travel time.
- Ability to pass/obtain a clear Police Check, Working with Children’s Care (employee), and nDIS Workers Check.
- An overview of the opportunities that may be available for those who are wanting to commence a career in the industry with said organisation.
Participants who successfully complete the pre-employment program will be offered a part-time trainee position within their preferred subsector (aged care, disability or home care), for up to 70 hours a fortnight.
They will be employed as a ‘trainee’ and will continue to training in the remaining 9
units of competency in the Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged & Disability) as
on-the-job training over the following 12 months. Being signed into a National Training Contract through MAS National.
With all trainees being paid full wages during this training period, not traineeship wages.

About Personal Carer roles:
Luson Health seek passionate and caring Personal Carers who are willing to assist in Food Service at Eden Park Residential Aged Care and The Vue Residential Aged Care facilities.

You will be working within an inclusive and supportive team of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Personal Carers, General Practitioners, Allied Health professionals, residents and their families to deliver high quality clinical and personal care to residents of Luson Health.
PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT
To be considered for this opportunity, you are required to meet the following criteria:
- Have you had personal experience in caring for others or maybe you have studied a qualification in aged care (or similar) and wanting assistance into gaining sustainable employment in the sector.
- No experience is necessary, the Launch into Work program will train, support and build your confidence to walk into a role as a personal carer with Luson Health or any other aged care business.
- Willing to provide personal care to assist residents to maintain their independence and dignity related to activities of daily living and lifestyle according to their individual care plans, Aged Care Standards and policies/procedures of Luson Health.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn to use an IT platform individual resident’s choice and needs, including documenting care notes and events.
- Willing to work in a team environment, be trained up to assist residents in various activities of daily living, including showering, dressing, feeding and social activities.
- You will be trained in basic food preparation, food handlers course and understand infection and cleaning practices in this program, allowing you to be a multi-skilled personal care given at the completion of the Launch into Work program.
