About Calvary Community Care

Calvary Community Care has been supporting people in their own homes and communities for over twenty years.

We deliver a range of aged care, disability and other support services that enable independence, improve social connections and promote positive health and well-being in their homes.

The Launch into Work Program

Is a Pre-Employment Training and Work Experience program for 10-15 people who are wanting to gain employment in the Community Sector, to work with the elderly or people with disabilities.

With a guarantee of employment on a minimum of 25 hours once the program has been successfully completed.

We are seeking 10-15 individuals who are passionate, caring and have a want to work with the elderly in a community setting.

The program is ran over 7-weeks where you will study 6 units of competency in community care (disability and ageing), complete up to 60 hours of buddied placement shifts (in clients homes) to reinforce and build your confidence. 

Locations of Placement & Employment

Calvary Community Care have committed up to 15 on-going roles within specific geographical areas, these being:

  • City of Maroondah

  • City of Whitehorse

  • City of Boroondara

A guarantee of a minimum of a part time contract, with a 25 hours per week (minimum 15 hours offered from 27th May, hours built up to 25+ over the following 2 weeks) for each candidate, upon the successful completion of the full Launch into Work program.

We are hiring on attitude – you will learn the skills you need to gain employment during the program.

Requirements

Once you decide this opportunity is right for you, Rebecca from Ternary will work with you to collate and complete the following requirements:

  • Have a current drivers licence and reliable vehicle

  • Minimum of 3rd party car insurance

  • Current Working with Children’s Check – employment
    (If you don’t currently hold one, this will be organised by Ternary during the recruitment process)

  • Clear National Coordinated P0lice Check (If you don’t currently hold one, this will be organised by Ternary during the recruitment process)

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent

  • 100 Points of ID, including a passport, birth certificate or Australian Citizenship

  • Mobile phone

  • Complete and pass a general medical and functional assessment (organised by Ternary once application is received – after attending the information session)

  • Pass Language Literacy & Numeracy Assessment (completed after application)

  • Available to work Monday to Friday 7:00am to 2:00pm or 10:00am to 8:00pm, Monday to Friday

Hours of Training

9:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Hours of Work Placement & Employment

Work placement is offered between 7:00am – 10:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Employment will be offered between 6:00am – 10:00pm, Monday to Sunday.

We are seeking candidates who are available and willing to work either morning or afternoon shifts, i.e. 7:00am – 2:00pm or 10:00am – 8:00pm.

During the application stage, Rebecca from Ternary will work with you to identify your hours and days you would like to work within the above hours and days.

Training - Induction, Soft Skills and Accredited

9:00am to 4:30pm

Work Placement - Supervised Workplace Training

Location – Various, in clients homes
Commencing – from 7:00am
Participants will be buddied with a senior Community Support Worker for all Work Placement shifts.

Employment

Employment will be offered upon the successful completion of the Launch into Work program.
Commencing from Monday 27 May 2019.

About Community Support Worker roles

Participants will be trained to undertake varying tasks to support people with disabilities &/or the elderly to maintain their independence and lifestyle in their home.  Some of the duties and requirements of the role involve:

  • Personal care – dressing, showering and grooming

  • Transportation – to and from events, medical appointments

  • Domestic assistance – laundry, vacuuming, light house work

  • Shopping assistance

  • Engage in the activities of daily living of the clients

  • Positively interact with all clients, nurturing their experience and giving each client individual attention and comfort

  • Assist in implementing a consistent daily routine of the clients

  • Ensure a clean and healthy environment for the clients.

Employment Commencing

This program offers guaranteed employment at the conclusion of the program, once completed you will commence employment with Calvary Community Care from Monday 27 May 2019.
