Ternary PCW Trainee Program - how and why it works

Detailed information on our PCW/AIN Traineeship, how we work with you and the trainee, to have the trainee moved from supernumerary shifts to AN-ACC rostered shifts within 4 weeks from commencement.

Step 1 – our structured fast-track program, upfront training in 4 units of competency, aligning with the supernumerary shifts being offered.

Step 2 – Supernumerary shifts, allocation of shifts with trained and suitable mentors in the workplace. Being supported by the accredited training, Ternary and your floor staff.

Step 3 – Contextualised internal sign-off documents, aligning with tasks and skills required for the trainee to move into in-directly supervised shifts

Step 4 – Convesations with all partners, trainee, manager, mentor, and trainer (RTO) to confirm competency and understanding of the scope of practice for the trainee at this next step.

Step 5 – Ongoing support, training and guidance by Ternary to all parties.

Case Study - Why employ trainees as part of your workforce plan

This is a short video about an 18-month project in Regional NSW with a 59-bed home. From January 2023, the commencement of recruitment, to November 2024, we assisted in recruiting and supporting 14 PCW Trainees to reduce the homes’ reliance on Agency staff, with a total savings of more than $56,000 in the initial 12 months. With all trainees continuing to work for a minimum of 18 months.
